Friends: 30 Things That Make No Sense About Ross And Rachel’s Relationship

Friends - Ross and Rachel (Part 1/7) [1080p]

There are a lot of important elements that make Friends the ten years of excellent TV it really is, but there's one common thread that runs through it all: Friends ' central couple Ross and Rachel. From the pilot episode to the series finale, their relationship is a major plotline — even in the episodes where it feels like it isn't. And, recently, while re-watching the painfully awkward episodes where Joey and Rachel date which never should have happened, TBH in Season 10, I realized that Ross mentions, "We haven't been a couple in six years. They may not have been in a formal relationship that long, but they're always "together. And this timeline of Ross and Rachel's relationship will prove it. They were meant to be since they were teenagers — how many people can say that? And, now that the show has been over for a long time, I can only imagine they're living in the suburbs with a teenage Emma and the rest of their beautiful children, living happily ever after with tons of dinosaur figurines.

Rachel is shocked by this revelation, but why? So smitten was he that less than two months into their relationship, Ross both asked her to move to America to be with him and to marry him.

Ross Geller

Rachel, obviously still in love with her ex, was devastated by this turn of events. So why did she introduce the two? And why Ross, who was possibly even more in love with her than visa versa, propose?

While working for the same tailor that gave Ross one of his future ex-wives Emily, Rachel developed a serious crush on Joshua, one of her regular clients.

Ross and Rachel are definite soulmates, but their relationship is messy and complicated. From their infamous break to the one-night stand that. Ross and Rachel were the main couple on Friends, but there were more than In season 2, before Rachel and Ross got together — but after the pros . After saying Rachel's name and given their history, how could he think. Fans of the show are still wondering why Ross and Rachel were always a minor commitment, and it's not like she had a long romantic history.

Now, as we mentioned, Ross still loved her and she him, which makes her decision to actively pursue him even more mind-boggling. Even if it was out of revenge, Joshua was uptight, unassertive, and seriously gun-shy after a recent divorce. Not exactly husband material there, Rach…. Ah, Joey, the simple-minded ladies man who struggles at the best of times to keep it together around women.

Ross and Rachel had one of the most bumpy relationships in the 90s. Here are all the things about their relationship that just, well, don't add. Ross and Rachel (also known as Roschel) is a very romantic pairing between Ross Geller and Rachel Green. This relationship is one of the main plot lines of. From the pilot episode to the series finale, their relationship is a major And this timeline of Ross and Rachel's relationship will prove it.

The one thing he values more than anything is his loyalty to his friends. In Season 9, Joey falls madly in love with Rachel. And other than throwing a punch at Joey he missedthe whole thing just kind of fizzles out, and no one is to mention it again… got it?! In the Season 2 finale, Rachel attends the wedding of her ex-fiance Barry, acting as maid of honor to her childhood friend Mindy. The whole thing is set up to make Rachel look foolish: from the terrible bridesmaid dress to the stories that Rachel left Barry at the alter because she had a disease.

Friends - Rachel is jealous, and Kiss with Ross

Your friend sucks and you have a fella, forget the wedding! The two are divorced and cannot stand being in the same room together. This necessitates two parties, one in their apartment with the mother and one in Joey and Chandler's with the father. The ensuing calamity sees Ross running back and forth on behalf of the father getting glasses and drinksleading the mother to accuse Rachel of dating her father.

One sees Phoebe kissing Ross, and the other, perhaps most surprisingly, sees Chandler and Rachel about to make music together. All of this occurred before Chandler and Rachel had been formally introduced in the first episode, which makes no sense. In the opening episode from Season 3, Ross tells Rachel that he fantasizes about her dressing up as Princess Leia from Return of the Jedi.

Nothing wrong with that, right?

Ross and rachel dating history

When Mark meets Rachel at a diner where she is bemoaning her current work situation, he tells her he could get her a job in Bloomingdales. Tommy, her new man, is, unbeknownst to everyone, is a hot head bordering on the psychotic.

Unbeknownst to everyone except, of course, Ross, who is witness to his outbursts when no one else is around. When all the friends go on a trip to Las Vegas, Ross and Rachel fly out together. Upon realizing the prank, Rachel is livid, and the two get drinks together to numb the awkwardness of the situation. Perhaps we could have called the series a wrap 5 seasons in had they just stayed together, but….

In the same way that Ross was unwilling to confront Rachel about the list she made until he cooled down, when Rachel took it for granted that the two would be getting a divorce from their sham marriage, Ross nodded and smiled in agreement, while secretly lamenting losing Rachel and getting divorced for the third time.

So what did he do? Just tell her how you feel, man!

Although initially resistant, Ross eventually decides to take her out. No, nothing happened between them, but come on Ross, there are just some things you do not do! Turn around is fair play, I guess. In the pilot, Ross and Rachel reconnect for the first time in years when she leaves Barry at the altar, and they split an Oreo while Ross casually mentions he'd like to ask her out sometime Rachel doesn't find out how Ross really feels until the season finale, "The One Where Rachel Finds Out," and she rushes to the airport to tell Ross how she feels before he leaves for China.

Rachel tries to confess her feelings to Ross, but he gets off the plane with Julie — and the new gal is sweet, but she's clearly just a foil to their plot. A few episodes later, in "The One Where Ross Finds Out," he gets a message on his answering machine from Rachel about how over him she is, even though she is not, in fact, over him. He's her lobster! Their relationship is going great In "The One Where Ross and Rachel Take a Break," they kinda, sorta split up, but get back together the next morning — which leads to one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the entire show when Rachel finds out that Ross slept with Chloe the hot copy girl while they were "on a break.

He doesn't realize he agrees to taking full responsibility for sleeping with Chloe, and their relationship quickly ends, again. Cue tears. Later in the season, while Ross is engaged to Emily, she realizes she has to stop him from getting married, but once she gets to London, all she can do is wish him luck.

Ross and Rachel

In the middle of his wedding to Emily, Ross accidentally says Rachel's name instead of his future wife's — awkward. Eventually, their marriage crumbles because she can't handle his friendship with Rachel, and I'm so glad it did, or else we would never have gotten the beautiful scenes of Ross and Rachel drunkenly married in Vegas. Ross and Rachel move in together, and Rachel has no idea they're still married — until they have to get a divorce later on.

Ross Eustace Geller, Ph.D., is a fictional character from the NBC sitcom Friends, portrayed by David Schwimmer.
