Adventure Time Creator Confirms Princess Bubblegum And Marceline Used To Date - Geekologie

Adventure Time - Movie Night - Cartoon Network

After eight years and ten seasons, Adventure Time confirmed a long-anticipated relationship between two main characters: Princess Bubblegum and Marceline. Adventure Time began as a 7-minute short by creator Pendleton Ward and aired its series finale on Monday. The show managed to fit in countless conclusions to wrap up storylines as neatly as possible. The relationship between PB and Marceline, a couple fans have dubbed "Bubbline," was one of these conclusions when the two shared a short, meaningful kiss. The kiss occurred toward the end of the episode and the two characters appeared together in a montage at the end of the episode.

When she finds Bubblegum, Marceline is upset that she was uninformed about the exile. This suggests that Marceline cares deeply about Bubblegum and expects to be kept up-to-date on Bubblegum's life. Marceline states that she and Bubblegum often hung out down in the mines, before Bonnie got too busy being the Princess of the Candy Kingdom. They eventually come upon a graffiti tag Marceline made Bubblegum write when they used to hang out in the mines.

When they are back in the Princess' cabin, Bubblegum confides that she has been "crazy tired" for a long time, but Bubblegum still insists that she must watch for more varmints. Marceline tells PB to worry about the varmints tomorrow, and that she will look out for them throughout the night.

Bubblegum agrees to rest, but only if Marceline promises to wake her up in fifteen minutes. Marceline promises. The episode ends with Bubblegum resting her head on Marceline's shoulder. This episode shows that Marceline and Princess Bubblegum have a long and complex relationship.

The end of the episode shows that their relationship has become very trusting and caring, as Bubblegum trust Marceline to wake her.

In " Take Her Back ", Marceline is shown to be having a dream in which she is living in Princess Bubblegum's cabin with her. Marceline has grown very old and Peppermint Butler is outside digging Marceline's grave. Bubblegum has not aged, but has only grown taller.

Marceline's dream seems to be caused by Marceline's anxieties about being mortal. Her dream suggests that she does not want to grow old because Princess Bubblegum will not be aging with her. Towards the end of the episode Princess Bubblegum invites Marceline to live in her castle. Marceline turns down the invitation. In " Seventeen ", Marceline and Bubblegum are shown holding hands as they approach Finn after he was defeated by Fern.

Is she still all goody-goody? Still half vampire? Started dating anyone? Finn replies, "Yes. Yes, but no, then yes again. And maybe? Finn's response to Hudson suggests that Marceline may be romantically involved with someone.

Perhaps Finn's confusion is a result of seeing Marceline and Princess Bubblegum holding hands in "Seventeen". The lyrics, "I know all the other boys are tough and smooth, and I've got the blues.

I wanna slow dance with you," can be interpreted as Marceline longing to dance with someone who has many male suitors such as Princess Bubblegum. The song could also be interpreted to be a cover of a song written by someone else, thus when Marceline says "I" she is not actually referring to herself. When asked by a fan "any comments about Marceline and Bubblegum's, [sic] and their shared history? Marceline and Bonnibel's kiss romantically, rekindling their love for each other.

In AugustHynden Walchvoice actor of Princess Bubblegum, confirmed on Tumblr that they used to be best friends. However, Princess Bubblegum "matured" meaning that Bubblegum was being too much of a princess which made her distant with Marceline too fast for Marceline's liking, splitting apart their friendship.

This explains their rivalry, along with why Princess Bubblegum has trusting issues, and also why Marceline knows PB's first name, Bonnibel. Enraged, she attacks it and manages to hold it off. Later, in the episode "What Was Missing", Marceline calls BMO "baby" while helping it install an electrical lead to cook her and her other friends some noodles. In the comics, although these presumably reflect a separate canon, BMO is shown to be happy when Marceline visits Finn and Jake at the treehouse.

Marceline decided to help her after witnessing an argument with Breakfast Princess. During the episode, the girls hi-five several times and remained good friends. Marceline appears to be friends with the Duke of Nutsalthough their history has not been revealed.

Ash is Marceline's ex-boyfriend. They lived in Finn and Jake's Tree Fort together prior to them moving in. Ash performed spells to impress Marceline and called her "Mar-Mar. They seem to share a punk-like style. In " Memory of a Memory ", Ash poses as the Rag Wizard and pretends Marceline is under a sleep spell in order to trick Finn and Jake into removing the memory of their breakup.

She then falls back in love with him, but once Finn explains the situation to Marceline, she becomes enraged again and kicks Ash in the groin, followed by a heavy pummeling by her and Finn, and later Jake.

He seems to have no respect for her, as he only wants to date her so she can make him dinner and do other chores. In " Everything Stays ", it is revealed that during her Vampire hunting career, she discovered she could gain their powers by absorbing dust produced after a Vampire dies with the soul sucking ability she learned from her father. According to Princess Bubblegum, Marceline has killed tons of vampires during her career as a Vampire Hunter and was responsible for the near extinction of the vampire race, however ended up being turned into a vampire as result of her battle with the last surviving vampire.

Despite having lived as a vampire herself, Marceline shows contempt for blood sucking vampires she has battled in the past.

The Fool is one of the first Vampires Marceline ever targeted, and while she hunted him with deadly earnest, he regarded the whole thing as a game of tag. Marceline managed to defeat him and used her soul sucking power to gain his power of flight and levitation.

After he is revived, The Fool is the first Vampire Marceline stakes and kills in " Vamps About " allowing her to regain his power of flight. Marceline dispatches with him with absolutely no effort, while The Fool casually shrugs off being stabbed in his usual carefree fashion.

Marceline has a deep hatred toward The Empress which is implied to be due to her hypnotizing Simon Petrikov and turning him into her thrall sometime prior to his full transformation into the Ice King, toying with him and forcing him to preform degrading such as licking her boots.

To protect Simon, Marceline fought and killed The Empress, absorbing her power of invisibility before her battle with The Hierophant. When The Empress tries to place him under deep hypnosis it is revealed that the Ice King is immune to The Empress's hypnotic powers and was simply infatuated with her in typical the Ice King fashion.

With help from Princess Bubblegum, Marceline manages to kill her and reclaim her power of invisibility. The Hierophant initially avoided fighting Marceline during the Vampires' attack on the ship carrying Two Bread Tom and the surviving humans by disguising himself as Marceline's pet zombie poodle, Schwabl.

The relationship between PB and Marceline, a couple fans have dubbed "Bubbline," was one of these conclusions when the two shared a short, meaningful kiss.

The kiss occurred toward the end of the episode and the two characters appeared together in a montage at the end of the episode. The storyboard artist who got that scene, to decide what her take on it was going to be," showrunner Adam Muto told TVLine on Monday. It didn't say that they kiss. It just said they 'have a moment. I think I really sponked up. In " Rattleballs ," Finn tries to get over his relationship with Flame Princess by protecting and serving Bubblegum, and takes to annoy her first thing in the morning in Ice King fashion.

Bubblegum is annoyed with him and tries to ignore him. When she needs milk, Finn overdoes it and spends three weeks getting a tiny vial of mink's milk, which Bubblegum rejects. Finn also serves her "one hundred percent," like how the Gumball Guards were programmed to. Although it is unknown if he is interested in Bubblegum again, he seemed to overdoes the task and wants to be her servant. This suggests Finn's romantic interest in her may be reawakening.

They somewhat flirt with one another and make it work despite the age difference. It is unknown if PB now has romantic feelings towards Finn.

Princess Bubblegum and Marceline's relationship, also referred to as Bubbline, has a lot of evidence suggesting that is so much more than a mere platonic. She kissed Finn on the cheek but this was not exactly in a romantic way and Finn had a mature and mellow response. However she does acknowledge that he is getting tall, a possible sign of her romantically warming up to him with him maturing, but there is no real evidnece of that. In the original pitch documents, Princess Bubblegum and Marceline are shown to be friendly rivals. Though appearing at the same place at the same time on several occasions, the nature of their relationship was not known until "Go With Me," where we see Marceline mockingly greeting Princess Bubblegum, much to her displeasure.

During their early interactions, Marceline appears to view Princess Bubblegum as boring and a snob, while Princess Bubblegum, generally a woman of grace and poise, views her as unrefined and rude. The song begins with Marceline threatening to drink the red from Princess Bubblegum's face, which Bubblegum calls "distasteful. Marceline ends the song by saying "I shouldn't have to be the one who makes up with you; So why do I want to? Later, when Princess Bubblegum miscalculates the music needed to open the door, Marceline teases her, saying, "Looks like you aren't as perfect as you thought!

Guess you can't judge me anymore. After this, Marceline spits on Princess Bubblegum's sweater, and she walks away, incredibly offended. Marceline begins to storm off as well, and begins to cry, although it is unclear if her tears are due to remorse or anger. Finn helps the two of them reconcile in his song " My Best Friends in the World.

Marceline, on the other hand, didn't have an item, and had simply wanted to spend time together with Finn, Jake, and Princess Bubblegum. Following the release of "What Was Missing," the promotional video series " Mathematical! It questions Marceline's true feelings about Princess Bubblegum, stating that "Marceline might like Princess Bubblegum a little more than she'd like to admit Maybe a little more than Finn," with the implication being that Marceline has romantic feelings for Princess Bubblegum.

Fred Seibert issued an apology for the presumptuous nature of the video, and the "Mathematical! Princess Bubblegum and Marceline did not have any major interactions for two full seasons after "What Was Missing," possibly as a result of this controversy. In the episode " I Remember You ," Marceline appears to be having a good time playing music with the Ice King until he mentions Princesss Bubblegum's name, at which point Marceline's expression turns into an uncomfortable frown.

It is unclear whether this is due to her complicated feelings for Bubblegum or just because the Ice King's princess-obsessed personality upsets her. In the episode " Sky Witch ," Princess Bubblegum is shown sleeping in the shirt that Marceline gave her.

When she wakes up, she smells the shirt deeply, before wearing it under her clothes. As it is not clear when this picture was taken, it could have been taken before the events of the series or more recently when they began to get close again.

Later on in the episode, Marceline visits Princess Bubblegum at the castle, pushing a Gumball Guardian out of the way, entering the windows, and closing the curtains without the Guardian complaining or otherwise reacting at all.

Initially, Princess Bubblegum tries to act busy, but when Marceline expresses that she wants the Princess's help to find Maja the Sky Witch, Bubblegum agrees to help her. When trying to get her to relax through Maja's bramble barrier, Bubblegum calls her 'friend,' smiles, and gives her tea. However, the Princess is annoyed to discover that Marceline is simply looking for her old toy, Hambo.

She attempts to dissuade her, saying that Raggedy Princess could make her a new Hambo "or be [her] new Hambo," but, after realizing how much Hambo truly means to Marceline, she agrees to continue helping her search for it despite how dangerous it may be. Eventually, Princess Bubblegum barters for Hambo by offering Maja the t-shirt that Marceline gave her, an object that Maja notes has "sentimental freshness" and "psychic resonance" greater than Hambo's.

Bubblegum chooses not to tell Marceline how she got Hambo back, stating only "I took care of it," and climbs onto Marceline's back so they can fly out of Maja's home. Princess Bubblegum and Marceline's friendship is further explored in the comic Adventure Time: Marceline and the Scream Queens Issue 1in which Bubblegum becomes the manager of Marceline's band.

However, the comics are not considered canon to the series. In the episode " Time Sandwich ," Princess Bubblegum contacts Marceline for help when her scientific approach to Jake's problem fails.

In the episode " Varmints ," Princess Bubblegum and Marceline's past relationship is brought up again. At the beginning of the episode, Marceline is frustrated to find out that Bonnibel lost her princess-ship. She also seems angry when she asks where Princess Bubblegum went, and disappointed that Bubblegum didn't tell her about such a major change in her life.

Enraged, she attacks it and manages to hold it off. When it turns out that Bubblegum is all right, Marceline rushes to her side and expresses relief and concern over her.
