Ok, get straight to it, i bolted it in, hooked it up to the 2 wires that were there, only getting volts, doesnt go up and down just stays there.

Again, your '79 duct does not have provision for this hose my '81 has a different duct with a stub for the hose. Hope this helps. Maybe I am looking at the wrong culprit Connections match your notes except I don't have a cover.
Another long story, but when I hooked up battery in spring, the key was in ignition so I could maneuver car out of my winter spot in garage and it cooked the previous alternator which started this mission to get the old, non-functioning air conditioning compressor out of the car. Is there a way to test the ignition switch to see if it is resulting in the sparking problem at hookup?

If you are connecting the positive last, you will always get a big spark thus it is safest to connect the negative lead to the battery last. Bosch alternator hook up
speaking of alternators, I took my ute to a mechanic with the evil smell of boiling battery acid coming into the cab and he said the battery was. I think that I have wired the alternator incorrectly. It is a Bosch unit with a D+ electrical tab and a B+ bolt. it has no IND tab to hook it up to the. Remove the voltage regulator plug connector from the original alternator. 4. Note the trouble is that one brush is worn out. A new Regulator has new Brushes fitted to it and is easy to changeover. Disconnect the Barry positive before doing any electrical work on a car.
